The 6,500m2 modern facility includes inpatient and outpatient rooms, five operating theatres and clinics.
Situated at the heart of the Inverness campus, the new centre hosts NHS Highland’s entire eye care service, including surgical and outpatient facilities. The NTC also delivers a range of elective orthopaedic care, offering uncomplicated hip and knee replacements, foot, ankle and hand surgery.
Created to help reduce the waiting times for patients across the Highlands, the centre offers a bespoke uplifting environment designed with the full involvement of the clinical teams who work there as well as input from patients.
The new facility contains five operating theatres, 24 beds, 13 consultation rooms, clinics and outpatient departments. A patient and staff café, children’s play area and serene garden courtyard provide opportunities for patients and their guests to rest and restore.
Part of a national network of 10 treatment centres, funded by the Scottish Government and hosted by NHS Highland, the NTC was completed in April 2023.
The presence of the NTC on the Inverness Campus will allow greater collaboration between NHS staff, researchers and businesses to innovate in the field of health and life sciences.
