Hulley & Kirkwood were appointed to provide M&E services by BAM Construction for the new Phase 5 building at Plymouth Science Park. The client’s aspirations were for a flexible working environment with a resilient M & E servicing strategy.
The building embraces sustainable design principles and minimises the impact caused by its construction, energy use and lifecycle. The completed building provides rentable floor space of circa 2,500m² and offers cutting edge facilities, offices and ancillary spaces.
The building's footprint is efficient and maximises both natural daylight and ventilation. Lighting energy consumption is reduced with the integration of LED luminaires throughout utilising daylight and occupancy automatic controls. Solar photo-voltaics are accommodated on the roof providing a renewable energy source complementing the overall sustainable design.
The M&E design proposals were developed in accordance with BIM (level 2) protocol.
