We’re thrilled to have played a key role as the M&E engineers in the incredible transformation of the Wellington Sports Centre, which has officially completed its £3.6 million decarbonisation and refurbishment project and opened its doors to the public!
From project inception back in 2021 to now, this project has been a milestone that marks a huge leap toward a greener future for the community. With the successful integration of cutting-edge energy solutions, the revamped centre is now set to save nearly 220 tonnes of carbon per year!
We achieved this incredible feat by replacing the old gas boilers with electric air source heat pumps, upgrading the air handling system with heat recovery systems, installing solar panels and a new fully insulated new roof.
Thanks to the £1.54 million Government Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme, led by Salix and Somerset Council, this project not only delivers world-class facilities with a new gym, group cycling studio, functional training space, all-new cardio, resistance and free-weight equipment, but also leads the charge in sustainability for the Southwest.
A huge shout-out to Everyone Active - SLM, Somerset Council, Curtins, Kendall Kingscott Ltd, Harris Bros & Collard Ltd , Heat Radiation Ltd, REF Electrics (TAUNTON) LTD and all those involved in this monumental project, it’s truly an amazing project that we enjoyed working on.
